Scrap is part of humanity’s footprint on Earth. Despite today’s understanding of the Earth’s finite resources and the necessity of recycling, enormous amounts of trash end up in nature. Slowly, the scrap merges more and more with nature, which piece by piece breaks down the remains and covers them with lush greenery. The contrast between nature and scrap creates an exciting dynamic that stimulates visual artists’ creativity. Sometimes the trash becomes a picturesque feature of the landscape.
A visit to the “Bilkyrkogården” at Kyrkö swamp in Ryd outside Tingsryd in Småland gave the idea for the gallery with the theme “Scrap”.
