This year’s first “Photograph of the Week” is from Barranco de Las Vacas on Gran Canaria. Rushing water has created the gorge with sculpted rock walls and fascinating shapes. They are accentuated by the sunlight that streams down the narrow gorge, reflects off the rock walls and illuminates the rock walls in the middle of the day.
Water is the foremost and most persistent landscape architect. For millions of years, water has moved gravel and rock; grinded the mountain rocks and slowly shaped the ever-changing landscape. Conditions have been created for plants and trees that provide habitat for animals, birds and insects. As the crowning glory, the sunlight highlights the beautiful.
