It is still spring at Hanö Bay, even though the temperature one morning was only +1 degree Celsius. It has started to blow heavily and the memory of last autumn’s storms creates a certain nervousness. Strong easterly winds whip up large waves that wash up on the shores. However, the water level is low and it looks like the waves are bringing back some of the sand that was lost last year.
The bare roots and stump on the beach are all that remain of the majestic birches that stood at Holmaboden for probably 50 years. A year ago we could sit on the grassy beach brink leaning against the white trunks and enjoy the calm sea and the evening sky with Stenshuvud on the horizon.
It is with some fear that we soon will enter autumn and winter…
