Hanö Bay Week 2026

The non-profit association “Samverkan för Hanöbukten” was formed in November 2019 with the aim of non-profitably running, encouraging and promoting the work for clean water and a circular economy in Hanöbukten. The association would broadly strive to provide a neutral and unifying platform for everyone who wanted to get involved in clean water and a circular Hanöbukten region.

The vision is to achieve a healthier sea and provide conditions for healthy and prosperous coastal communities. The role of “Collaboration for Hanö Bay” is to be a kind of “facilitator”, one that helps and makes it easier for all actors to find each other and to collaborate.

For the fifth time, the association is organized “Hanöbuktsveckan”; a meeting place for nature, culture, knowledge and local involvement. The goal is to inspire more involvement by showing how much is contained in the concept of water, not only as a natural resource, but as part of the landscape, memories and life around all our waterways, all those that fill Hanöbukten.

In this context, art plays an important role in documenting and depicting the unique characteristics of the area that create the character of the region and shape the people who live and work here in different ways.

For the first time, we contributed through our exhibition of art photographs with motifs from Hanöbukten at Skogdala Gårdsbutik where eel fisherman Sven-Erik Tenghagen built his business around eel. You could buy eel, salmon and herring or enjoy herring sandwiches. This autumn it is time again for the eel festival, which is arranged in the party room. An important part in carrying forward Hanöbukten’s traditional cultural heritag.
